In Nightbanes all creatures deal damage of a specific Element. This is important because specific abilities can protect against or enhance the damage of a target school. When building a Deck, look closely at what abilities benefit which of your creatures, to increase the synergy of your cards!
School-Curse abilities increase the damage a creature takes from the related Damage School by the specified value.
School-Toughness abilities reduce the damage a creature takes from the related Damage School by the specified value.
School-Enrage abilities increase the damage a creature deals of the related Damage School by the specified value. This includes both Attack Damage, and Ability damage, from Inflict and Periodic damage abilities.
Periodic abilities deal a specified amount of damage to another creature every turn. This damage cannot be reduced by the Toughness ability, but it can be reduced by the related School-Toughness ability. Periodic damage stays on the creature until it is removed with a Dispel ability, or until the creatures leaves play.

Physical damage is by far the most frequent Damage School in Nightbanes. This damage often comes from the creature's either natural, or forged melee weapons, like claws or swords. Most Undead and Lycanthrope and many Corrupted creatures deal Physical damage.

Toxic damage is still by far the second most frequent Damage School in Nightbanes. This damage often comes from the creature's either natural Poison or poisoned weapons. Many Abominable and Bestial creatures deal Toxic damage.

Shadow damage is still by a lot the third most frequent Damage School in Nightbanes. This damage comes from the darkness within the creature, and overwhelms the enemy with it. Most Vampiric creatures deal Shadow damage.

Ballistic damage usually comes from modern weaponry, Guns in particular. Most Ballistic Damage is dealt by Corrupted creatures.

Fire damage usually comes from the creature's innate Fire, burning away their foes when it leaves the body. Most Fire damage is dealt by Demonic creatures.

Electric damage usually comes from high-tech weaponry.

Ice damage usually comes from the creatures' Cold Heart. Most Ice Damage is dealt by Ethereal and Undead creatures.

Holy damage usually comes from pious men, or from righteousness. Holy Damage is dealt almost exclusively by Righteous creatures.

Psychic damage comes from one's strength of mind. Creatures with Psychic damage tend to be very powerful and usually have at least 2 Abilities.

Mystic damage is an unexplained power that is inherent to beings that had a touch with the Spirit-Realm. Mystic Damage is dealt most frequently by Ethereal creatures.
